August
The year has passed the half way mark and I must say that the CTPS has been very busy with workshops and outings. We are indebted to Nellian, who has done some sterling work in arranging all of these for us. I am also pleased to note that there has been good support from our members. In order to benefit from these activities it is important to give input as well. We need to remember at all times that it is us, the members that make up the club.
How many of our member has tried photographing drops of water after seeing Peter Haaroff’s demonstration of how he does it. It all seems so easy. There is also a keen interest in the workshops on “Lighting” and “Macro Photography”. These workshops have been fully subscribed. Our outing to Kagga Kamma promises to be a great success. There will be a fair number of our members on this excursion. All we need now is good weather and who knows some of the flowers may still be around. Talking of flowers, how are the flowers this year. I have not had a chance to see them yet. Where there are interesting flowers is in the Overberg. I was there last week and drove past some magnificent fields of Canola. Having to visit schools in the area I did not have time to explore the area. Photographic possibilities are tremendous.
With members having given in 5 of their images to be considered for the book celebrating 120 years of Cape Town Photographic Society we now have the task of selecting the images to be included. It is our aim to be truly reprehensive of all our members. Looking through the archives one hopes to find pictures taken by some of the early members of CTPS. The style of taking pictures has changed but has the perception of the images changed so much? Let us see what we can do.
For now, I wish you all good shooting.
