Margherita, a fine art photographer, specializes in conceptual fine art portraiture with a surreal and whimsical twist. Most of her portfolio is selfportraiture as in most instances her work is autobiographical in nature. She explains that much of her inspiration comes from her emotions and so selfportraiture is the way in which she honours those emotions. “I began self-portraiture purely as it was practical and convenient, but I soon found self-portraiture to be a genre in its own right – a means of, for instance, expressing heartbreak, a healing process or a way to celebrate joy. I also use models – although typically these are my close friends, searching for the magical and mystical character hidden inside.
