Photojournalism can be described as the joint use of words and pictures to tell a story. Wilson Hick describes photojournalism as a combination of ‘dissimilar visual and verbal mediums’ to communicate meaning. According to the PSSA Salon definition; “Photojournalism entries are images with informative content and emotional impact which usually include human interest, documentary, news or sport. The journalistic (story-telling) value of the image shall receive priority over the pictorial quality”.
