On The Cover
This is another image I took while on the workshop with Kim Stevens in Venice
last year. It was a very cold morning on St Marks Square. A lot of renovations were
going on and it was difficult to find a composition as there were lots building
materials stacked in various places on the square. This image from the gondolas
on the edge of the water was one of very few “clean” compositions.
The RAW image appeared very flat. I recently started a mentorship program with
Martin Barber and this was one of the first images I developed with my new
found knowledge of Photoshop. The dodging and burning skills I have learned
really helped to enhance the image and make the gondolas stand out more.
Subtle changes I believe make a big difference to the image.
The image on the left is the “before” image of the one on the front page.
Camera settings: 2 sec at f14, ISO 200
