CTPS April outing to Pringle Bay
Pringle Bay : Seascapes and more
Members enjoyed plenty of opportunities to capture seascapes and other scenic
images during the weekend in Pringle Bay. Thanks to excellent planning by Rich-
ard and Joyce Goldschmidt everybody had a most enjoyable experience. RICHARD
GOLDSCHMIDT reports back
On Friday 4th April twenty-one members met at the
Menucha restaurant in Pringle Bay for dinner after
most of us had explored the coastline in the afternoon
to find a good spot to take sunset. Sunset was a bit dis-
appointing as there were no clouds. Some photogra-
phers wandered into the water to take breaking waves
instead. Menucha did us proud with a private upstairs
dining room and an à la carte menu.
The next morning the keen ones set off in the dark for
the lighthouse. It was a kilometre walk along a rough
path. We happily clambered over rocks trying to get
the best composition of water, rocks and lighthouse as
the sun was rising. Then back we went to one of the Ruth and Raoul Scholtz captured by Lesley Parolis.
restaurants in the tiny commercial district of Pringle people went to see the penguins at Betty’s Bay and
for a late breakfast. During the middle of the day most then on to the Harold Porter Gardens.
We all met in the late afternoon to drive back along Cla-
rens Drive for twenty minutes to Kogel Bay to capture
the sunset and go down onto the beach for those who
wanted to. This time high clouds covered False Bay and
a great sunset was likely. On arrival at Kogel Bay we
found the minimal parking along the road was fully uti-
lised, as there was some sort of festival happening down
on the beach below, and people were descending down
the path with picnic baskets for supper on the beach.
Rudi managed to park and get down to the beach,
whilst Kim, Joyce and Jacoba wisely decided to photo-
Anna Engelhardt, Dave Gordon and Lesley Parolis graph from the far side of Kogel Bay where there was a
photographed by Richard Goldschmidt.
