only one point away from receiving a FIAP Honourable Mention
(an international COM).
The Biennial is a global competition organised by the Interna-
tional Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), the international
body to which PSSA and many other country federations are af-
filiated. The Colour Biennial is held every alternate your, and the
Nature and Black and White Biennial in the intervening years.
Each participating country must enter a panel (collection) of 20
digital images and another collection of 10 prints. Apart from
each individual entry receiving a score, the whole collection is
also judged on what FIAP calls “coherence”. The collections are
entered under a theme – PSSA selected Rugby Action as the PDI
theme and Sport Action as the print theme – and the judges
evaluate how “coherent” the tone, content, colour, etc. of all the
images entered in the collection work together.
