The competition was judged remotely by Stephen Burgstahler from Tygerberg Photo-

Joint Winner PDI - Set (Advanced) Can’t see the wood for the trees
by Anna Morris (25). The tones support the concept of both
trees and forests. The bottom half is heavier (due to the dark
colours) as it should be. The most prominent lines are balanced
                                                              well within the frame.

Winner PDI - Set (Salon) Reaching for the sky by Pat Scott (28). Winner PDI - Set (Intermediate) Winter Afternoon in Tokai by
All the elements are working well together within the vertical Jessica Nitschke (24). The balance is strong, the sun in the cen-
frame. Everything is blended with a good balance. Strong “Au- tre works well. The horizontal branches add interest. The side
tumn” colour palette. The shadows on the bottom form a strong story adds interest without imposition. The mono was a proper
base. choice also because it de-emphasizes the side story.
