Cape Camera May/June 2021
one carefully composed image at a time, not the 11 frames per
second machine guns that have become the new normal. Re-
member how expensive slide film was? Not to mention the cost
of Ilford film and paper and the hours spent in a darkroom with
little or no margin for error. Beautiful rewarding creativity can be
achieved without extreme photo manipulation.
I recently paged through a very old issue of a magazine called
Minolta Mirror and the author said that he couldn’t help feeling
that this new autofocus function on his camera felt like cheat-
ing. I can’t help but wonder what the next generation will have
to say about our current images.
