yards and iconic chapel at Bosjes — an opportunity now
reserved for people staying on the farm or attending
functions there. The eating and drinking (in absolute
moderation for those driving) started in the Spens res-
taurant at Bosjes.
A slight detour brought some of us to the blockhouses
dating from the Anglo Boer war and the train bridge still
very much in use by the train from Pretoria. Partners and
friends held their breath while Joyce and Nicol du Toit
walked on the bridge to get better angles for their pho-
tographs, listening acutely for the sound of a train .
Staying at Reflections Guest Farm
"The highlight for me was staying on the Reflections
Guest Farm and waking up early to capture the beautiful
reflections in the dam.," says Lesley Parolis.
"The first morning the skies were clear and at first light I
captured the sun catching the tops of the mountains as
they were reflected in the water. On the second morning
there was some mist and it made for a cool blue atmos-
pheric shot."
Nicol agrees that taking early morning photos as the
light and scenery changes from the verandah of the
house we stayed in on Reflections farm was among the
highlights of the trip. What better way to start a day than
having your first cup of coffee while leisurely capturing
the scene in front of you?
"Of course, the best is the social interaction these events
offer," says Joyce.
This was especially true at the communal braai on the
Friday evening where Richard — with the assistance/
company of various members — earned Master Chef
status by braaiing several whole fillets. Other club mem-
bers contributed salads and side dishes so that in true
South African style, the tables groaned under the weight
of all the food and there was plenty left over.
