March 2021 Outing

Hout Bay harbour – in search of people, boats & places
Mike de Villiers, the organiser of the outing, reports

harbour precinct.
We gathered in front of the Look Out restaurant at 16h30, look-
ing forward to an interesting and rewarding shoot as well as
seeing each other again after such a very long time. Although
the weather forecast predicted a stiff Southeaster, the wind was
not troublesome and the fast-moving clouds provided ideal
photographic conditions.
We were advised to stay in groups for security reasons, which
resulted in one group moving to the Snoekies end of the har-
bour where the art gallery and market are the points of inter-
est. The other group walked along the dock towards Mariners
Wharf, with many photographic opportunities presented by
the fishing boats and yachts moored along the quay. A number
of seals were feeding on fish remains, which provided further
