Joint Winner PDI – Open (Beginner) Chapel on the Hill by Joyce Winner PDI – Open (Master) Spurwing Goose by Dave Gordon
Goldschmidt (23). The post-production was very well handled (29). Great in flight action. The whites were handled very well
although it is not quite clear how it was done. The light was han- with enough detail in the blacks. The blurred background adds
dled well and it is pin-sharp. It is an image that would look good to the image.
on a wall.
Joint Winner PDI – Open (Advanced) Estuary and River Bank by
Paramasivam Saravanakumar (27). An unfamiliar technique was
used here which makes the image look strange but also myste-
rious. Although the horizon should not be in the middle, her it
works because it almost explodes towards the right hand side
of the image. The pink and the grey-blueish colours are attrac-
tive and enhance the enjoyment of it.
Joint Winner PDI – Open (Intermediate) Four Empty Glasses by
Gaetan Manuel (23). The image is sharp and the symmetry is at-
tractive. However, the cropping could have been tighter on the
left and right and the grainy background and the dull colours
make the image look flat - a gradation of colours would have
helped to improve this.
Joint Winner PDI – Open (Intermediate) Dragonfly by Gaetan
Manuel (23). The dragonfly was caught very well with a little bit
of movement in the wings. However, the light is a little bit harsh
and the dragonfly also a bit too small in the image with the very
bright spot at the bottom and top right distracting from the im-
age. Cropping into a portrait would have improved it and done
away with most of the bright spots.
