“The feeling of freedom when you travel through the vast open
spaces of Namibia and to share that with photography friends
is a privilege for which I am grateful.”
Trudi’s Story:
“Following the excellent recommendation of seasoned Namib-
ia traveller Neels Beyers, Nicol and I stayed over at the Norotsha-
ma River Resort, about 50km from the Noordoewer border post
on the banks of the Orange River. Due to recent flooding some
of the tented rooms were not available, but we were fortunate
to be upgraded to one of the recently restored “canvas cabins”
nestled among the trees and with an uninterrupted view of the
river and sunset.

“Wolwedans was an amazing experience. It was the first time
we stayed there and believe it will always be beautiful, but with
the green and white grasses it exceeded all our expectations.
We went out for sunrise and sunset every day to different parts
of the reserve. One experience that really stands out was when
we were caught in a thunder storm one afternoon. The sting of

linking swimming pools under shady trees has a very cooling
effect on hot and bothered travellers (perhaps the beer served
in iced glasses has something to do with this as well).
“As the setting sun was over-saturating the red and orange
clouds across the river, two local fishermen were trying their
luck with hand lines from the shore. Just the right recipe to start
a memorable holiday!”
