Winner PDI – Open (Beginner): Coming in to land by Rainer Clauss (22). Placing the subject
straight in the centre of the image works well here because both halves are almost mirror images.
It is sharp and the colours are soft and gentle, however the overly bright white background over-
powers the image and makes the bird look like a cut-out. A thin rule around the image would have
helped to frame and contain it.

Winner Print – Open (Master): Organic design by Kim Stevens (25). A superb example of a
Fibonacci spiral being used to create a perfectly balanced and aesthetically pleasing photograph.
This image is particularly attractive as it is soft in colour and texture, unlike other similar images
of circular staircases which are made of stone, concrete or wood. Instead of a powerful contrast,
it is its strong graphic design that draws the viewer into the scene.
