AV-making at CTPS — Quo Vadis?
CTPS has always been renowned for promoting AV’s and encouraging members to par-
ticipate. Sadly, member participation has dwindled over the past few years. A meeting is
planned on 3 December to discuss how this interest can be revived. All CTPS members
are invited to attend — even if you are an AV novice who wants to learn more.
A few years ago one of the activities offered by CTPS
that attracted new members to the club was our AV
Group. Interest in Audio-Visual (AVs) was so strong that
a third evening had to be booked for the AV Group to
meet in the hall (the second Wednesday of the month).
As we reported in the September Cape Camera, CTPS
members Clive and Joan Rathband won the 2024 AV
Impala Trophy and Ken Woods was runner-up. Ken and
John Arseniou were also awarded AV-LPSSA for their
work. CTPS therefore has some members who are excel-
lent AV makers.
But, sadly, interest in the CTPS AV Group has dwindled to 'Harmony in Pink' earned a FIAP Gold Medal for Ken Woods

It is true that low interest in making AVs is a worldwide
trend, but is it really irreversible ? We hope this question
will receive a positive answer at a special zoom meeting
to discuss the future of the CTPS AV Group.
We are therefore inviting all CTPS members interested
in learning more about making AVs to a zoom meeting
on December 3 at 7pm. A decision will be taken at the
meeting if and how the CTPS AV Group will go forward.
A zoom link will be sent out to all by Snapshot.
This will also be the ideal opportunity for members who
have no idea what an AV is to find out what it is all about,
as Ken Woods will be showing some prize-winning work. 'The Ghosts of Sossusvlei' by John Arseniou earned an ac-
ceptance in the AV Makers SA salon.
