Winner PDI – Open (Advanced) Starry Night in the Quiver Tree forest by Simon Mouton (14 COM).
Wendy Freer commented: A very well handled image of the Milky Way, which is perfectly exposed and very well
placed within the foreground.
The inclusion of the person in
the centre, spot-lighting the
quiver tree, is ingenious.
Simon Mouton explains: I cap-
tured this image during a trip
to fantastic Namibia with Ven-
tureKJ during June 2025. On
the second and third nights we
camped at one of the Quiver
tree forests outside Keetman-
shoop. This camping site is great
because you can just walk to the
nearby trees during the day and
at night. I love astrophotogra-
phy and the night skies that are
so spectacular in Namibia.
The image was captured just
after 21:00 with the quiver trees
and person adding some fore-
ground interest and scale to the
image.
