April 2023 Cape Camera
Joint winner PDI – Set (Advanced) Auntie at door by Lea-Anne Alexander (28). The image is plain, simple, and very strong. The rich
colours and strong composition work well together. Good handling of saturation.
Winner Print – Open (Advanced) Jacaranda tree at sunrise by Lea-Anne Alexander (25). Lovely colours and a good composition, al-
lowing the eye to meander to the hills in the distance. Even the gate is open (my photographic mentor always insisted that closed
gates are a no-no). While the colours are lovely, there is a large bluish halo around the tree, which could be the result of over-
processing to emphasise the purple colours. Despite that, it is a very pleasing image.
