Winner PDI - Set (Salon): Bridge support and cone at night Winner PDI - Set (Intermediate): Moon Startrail by
fall by Richard Goldschmidt (28). Strong graphic elements Alex Jordaan (22). It’s good to see the photographer
have been brought together and as a bonus the grada- trying something a little different to explore both the
tion of the lighter blue into the darker blue-black suggest moon and star trials, given that they don’t naturally oc-

strong element, as are the textures. The repetition of pat- well but I’m not sure the composition works. It feels like
terns, strong lead-in lines add to the dynamic qualities of two separate images and my eye tends to bob between
this beautiful iconic image. them.

Winner PDI - Set (Advanced): Black leopard with successful night hunt by Roger Trythall (26). This is a unique expe-
rience, and the photographer has done very well in capturing this in a fleeting moment as the leopard is moving,
so you really need to stay calm and know what you are doing. The exposure is overall well handled with good sep-
aration from the background and the darkness around the left leg does not bother me. Unfortunately, the angle is
shooting down at the leopard. If you were so lucky for it to make eye contact the image would score even higher. .
