Winner PDI- Open (Salon): Oystercatcher flight display by Francois Retief (28).
Compliments to the photographer, said the judge. The timing is right, the
composition is right, the light is right, and it is sharp where it counts. Francois
captured this image in Pringle Bay in December 2024 when he spent an early
morning on the beach, watching them and having his camera ready to get
this shot with the wings wide open.

Winner PDI - Set (Intermediate): Joy by Ansie du Toit (20). The judge said that the theme
is very well represented in this image as the movement creates a feeling of joy. The ICM
technique is used successful here, although the heavy tree trunk in the middle cuts the im-
age into two halves. The colour of the tree is also rather sombre and takes away some of the
joyful feeling.
