Winner PDI - Set — (Advanced) Seceda 1 by Johan Van Wyk (25).
Kyle Goetsch commented: Compositionally very well done and the foreground has strong visual interest. The sky
could have been used to create a stronger visual and colour contrast, as its slightly dirty colour takes away from the
clear pureness of the mountain scene in the foreground.
Johan van Wyk explains: This image was taken on a late Autumn trip in the Italian Dolomites. The Alpi di Seceda ridge
line is situated at over 2 500m altitude in the Val Gardena National Park. A 1.5 hours hike, gaining around 400m altitude,
is needed to get to the photospot. Clearly backpack weight and physical ability at this altitude are considerations. Once
there, however, the views are spectacular. One can enjoy many excellent compositions, both for wide-angle as well as
for longer lens landscapes. In November the light quality, so far North, is really good. Weather is an unpredictable vari-
able, but autumn is probably the best time for low tourist numbers, good light, fall-colours, reasonable temperatures
         and not (yet) impassable snow. Nikon Z8; Nikkor 24-120 f4 @24mm; F11; 1/40sec; ISO80; tripod.

Winner PDI - Set (Intermediate) Sunset Glo Jokulsarlon Glacial Lake by Melanie Black (24).

Kyle Goetsch commented: The subject selection and colour balance in this image are good. The highlights could
be managed better and so could the edges, as the small rock in the left bottom corner is distracting and does not
          add to the scene.
Melanie Black explains: This image was taken on my first day in Iceland on a photography workshop. We left Rey-
kjavik to explore the sights, waterfalls, black sand beaches, wild horses and the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in the Vat-
najökull National Park. We arrived there just as the sun was setting. The huge glacier, Breidamerjurjökull, flows into
this lake and is ever retreating and breaking off into enormous icebergs that float for around 5 years before ending
          up on Diamond Beach. Camera: Fuji xt5, Lens:16-55mm’ Focal Length: 25,7mm f 11, 1/25th, ISO 500.
