Winner PDI - Set (Advanced) Sunday afternoon drive by Rainer Clauss (24).
Francois du Bois said: A great panning shot that is sharp where it counts, with a soft background that is dominated
by a beautiful green colour. This is a good example that a visit to the local racetrack is not required to achieve a suc-
cessful panning shot.
Rainer Clauss explains: Photographing moving objects is not trivial in Germany. Strictly speaking, it is prohibited
to photograph people without their consent. A few years ago, I tried my panning techniques on motorcycle riders,
but some spotted me and slowed down, but fortunately did not stop.
This time I held my Nikon Z6ii to my waist to not draw attention to my motives. It took some searching to find a suit-
able place to park next to a road with an appealing background and a spot to position myself next to a tree to not
be in full view. I chose this photo out of only a handful.

Winner PDI - Set (Advanced) Racing down the track by Charlene Naude (24).
Francois du Bois said: An excellent panning shot where the subject is pinsharp and the background sufficiently
blurred to indicate speed.
Charlene Naude commented: On this day I went out to the track specifically to get a panning photo. I really en-
joyed trying to get that perfect shot and after several attempts, I got a few good ones.
