Winner PDI – Open (Beginner) We have a Liftoff by Gavin Klevansky (24).

Francois Roux commented: A very attractive action shot, where the head of the bird is pin sharp, and the feathers
show some movement in line with the title. It is well exposed with a soft and attractive background.
Gavin Klevansky commented: The image was shot at Intaka Island on 30 April 2025 on a stunning, virtually wind-
less, day. I am very intrigued by these little ducks with the turquoise colouration on the wings so was focusing on
them for quite some time. I was fortunate enough to capture this image. I was told that this is a hybrid.
I photographed it handheld, with slight panning to capture the liftoff movement on a high shutter rate.
Nikon D500 APC, NIKKOR 200 - 500mm lens, f5.6, 1/2000 sec, ISO 560, on manual with auto ISO. Focal length of

In the PSSA June Junior Club Competition the image was awarded a score of 32 out of 45 by the three judges.

Winner PDI - Set (Salon) Speedy Gonzales by Joan Ward (28).
Francois du Bois commented: A fantastic panning shot, where the rider is pinsharp and the different coloured
stripes of the blurred background add additional attraction to a most successful image.
Joan Ward explains: This image was taken on the day of the CTPS shoot at the Killarney race track, but I didn’t see
anyone from the club, as I went in the afternoon. See more on p24.
