CTPS again concluded the 2023 competition year in style, with an elegant function in the opulent setting of Simon’s Function Venue on the Groot Constantia wine estate. This was again made possible by our accomplished event organisers, Anna Engelhardt and Joyce Goldschmidt.
Jacoba van Zyl and Lesley Parolis looked after the competition aspects. It is a tremendous task to select the best three photographers of the year in each rank in both Open and Set subject categories and Jacoba had to add up the total of the ten highest scores earned by all members during the year. Marius Stockenstrom had the 21 medals made.

Every year a number of Salon-ranked members are promoted to Master status, which is earned with at least 10 Gold medals and ten new salon acceptances during the year. This year eleven members achieved Master status, namely Neels Beyers, Theo Potgieter, Dieter Bütow, Lambe Parolis, Nicol du Toit, Trudi du Toit, Jacoba van Zyl, Kim Stevens and Lesley Parolis. Absent: Anna Engelhardt and Michele-Ann Nel.
Past President Jacoba van Zyl honoured Kim Stevens with the President’s Award for the eight years that she was responsible for the E&D portfolio on Council and her willingness to advise members. Jacoba also mentioned Kim’s PSSA involvement as part of her motivation for the award, namely as a member of the prestigious Honours Judging Panel and her advisory role in the Western Cape Honours Group. Kim also received the PSSA Impala Trophy for winning the print category and a medal as author of the Best Salon image of the Year, namely Calatrava Graphics. The DPSSA Prints she earned this year qualified her for DPSSA (Vers) – DPSSA Honours in three categories.
CTPS received three awards from PSSA this year: as the Western Cape club with the most Impala salon points in the 2023 competition year, for winning the Website competition and for being the runner-up in the Magazine competition.
