Winner PDI - Set — (Advanced) The descent by Simon Frank Mouton (25).
Kim Stevens commented The decision to include a person in this architectural image was well
worth it and so was the timing as it helps to create a feeling of movement. The in-focus left hand of
the person descending the stairs adds to the overall story. Good conversion into black and white.
Simon Mouton explains: This image was captured during the recent CTPS outing to the Groote
Kerk in Cape Town. I was inspired by the many amazing images of staircases captured by other
CTPS members, but I consciously try to add something extra to my images to capture “something
different”. Whilst photographing this staircase, I noticed members walking up and down and took
numerous photos. I recently purchased my first mirrorless camera, and the flip screen and low light
capabilities were great to capture this image. I preferred a mono conversion to the colour version.
Canon EOS R6 Mark 2 with 16-35 zoom lens at 18 mm. 1/6 sec. f8 & ISO: 800
Winner PDI – Set (Beginner) A Tapestry of Light
and Glass by Gavin Klevansky (20).
Kim Stevens commented: The light penetrating
through the stained glass window helps to illu-
minate the attractive textures and details of the
stone arch. Lifting the shadows in the surround-
ing areas would improve the image, which lacks
in sharpness.
